The First Mile - Philadelphia Distance Run at 7:00 AM - TNT Tent at Eakins Oval

A personal message from Amanda Goble, our Team In Training Campaign Coordinator:

The PDR Team has been wished well and they are in the final preparation mode for their event on Sunday. Many of you are using this weekend as a Training run/walk. The weather looks beautiful and the event itself is always fantastic! Please feel free to use the TNT Tent located in Eakins Oval (right near the start line) as your meeting point. I would aim to meet around 7:00 AM. Remember to encourage each other out on the course, thank the volunteers, and WEAR YOUR TNT GEAR!!! I would also recommend that you write your name on your shirt so that people cheer for you by name. Please note that the TNT Tent is used to check in only the participants who PDR is their official event. For you guys not registered for the race, you do not need to check in or out. GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN AND I'LL SEE YOU THERE!

GROUP TRAINING

NO OFFICIAL GROUP TRAINING THIS WEEKEND

Since all of our coaches (and most of you) will be running/walking PDR this weekend, there is no official training outside of that event.

TEAM NEWS

WE NEED PDR VOLUNTEERS: We need volunteers from 5:30 AM – 10:30 AM Sunday the 16th to help at the TNT water stop. Please let me know if you are able to help. Also, feel free to invite friends and family! Thanks so much.

THE HOME STRETCH

For many of you PDR on Sunday will be the first race you ever do. Enjoy the experience and have fun. There will be Team In Training people all over the place out there and remember that everyone you see in purple is a teammate of yours. For those who aren't doing PDR, enjoy the cool weather as you put your miles in, and stop down at the race and cheer the rest of the Team on. I guarantee that it will get you really excited for your own event!

GO TEAM!!!

About Me

I became involved with Team In Training during the Spring 2007 season by training for the New Jersey Marathon in Long Branch, New Jersey. Prior races include several 5K and 10K events, and one half marathon. Training for an endurance event takes a lot of commitment, courage, and vision. Looking back on my casual running experience for the past two decades, I never imagined training for a marathon! Through Team In Training, I found a great training program, developed new friendships, and made a significant impact by raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma from taking more lives. I am continually inspired by our featured team heroes and the personal stories from friends, family, and teammates that were shared during my initial fundraising for the cause. Please enjoy reading the past stories of my experience.
