The Second Annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-mile Run

We did not have a traditional practice today, but most of us entered the Second Annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-mile Run.

My results:

Chip Time: 00:33:14
Clock Time: 00:33:26
Overall: 54 out of 919
Division Place (Males 35 to 39): 7 out of 89
Pace: 6:41.2

Compared to my last speed trial in January, I reduced my pace time by 30 seconds!

For the New Jersey marathon next week, I plan to run between 8:30 and 9:00 per mile, so I'm in good shape to finish the race around 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Fundraising update... I have reached $2480! If you are interested in making a donation on my behalf, you have until the end of May.

What a great season! I heard several inspiring stories pertaining to the cause and met so many amazing people. I'm looking forward to becoming a mentor during the fall season for Team In Training, and will continue to share my experience through this website.

Next Saturday, I will travel to Long Branch, NJ for several pre-marathon events. Sunday is the marathon... wish me luck!

I will share my experience here next week... stay tuned!

About Me

I became involved with Team In Training during the Spring 2007 season by training for the New Jersey Marathon in Long Branch, New Jersey. Prior races include several 5K and 10K events, and one half marathon. Training for an endurance event takes a lot of commitment, courage, and vision. Looking back on my casual running experience for the past two decades, I never imagined training for a marathon! Through Team In Training, I found a great training program, developed new friendships, and made a significant impact by raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma from taking more lives. I am continually inspired by our featured team heroes and the personal stories from friends, family, and teammates that were shared during my initial fundraising for the cause. Please enjoy reading the past stories of my experience.
