Mission Moment - Inspiration From Team Heroes

MISSION MOMENT

As race weekend looms just days away for some of you and a little over a week for others make sure that you are always remembering the reason as to the true purpose behind Team In Training.

REMEMBER Adam Spector and how your emails to him, your dedication and effort, and your drive to do something bigger than yourselves was an inspiration to him and to his life that was cut way short.

REMEMBER Markie Rodgers and let his smile be your motivation when you feel like you are tiring at mile 7 or 10 or 25.

REMEMBER David Wolovitz and the gratitude and appreciation he has for Team In Training, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, most importantly each and everyone of you for every mile ran and every dollar raised.

REMEMBER the stories that your teammates have told you throughout this journey about their loved ones and the reasons as to why they lace up those shoes.

REMEMBER the mission moments at training and in these emails. Let the words of Curtis Bronson or Karen Ryder help you catch that second wind.

REMEMBER your own personal reasons. Maybe a family member or a friend was diagnosed with a blood cancer and you are doing this in honor or in memory of them. Maybe you are a survivor and you know that this full or half marathon is only another challenge in your life. You have already crossed other truly amazing finish lines in your past, this will be added to that incredible list.

Most importantly REMEMBER that you are not out there alone. You are running and walking for every person who has been touched by these terrible diseases. Your fundraising efforts will forever impact our mission of finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma while improving the quality of life for patients and their families. Everyone wearing purple on race day is your teammate, your coach and your support system. We are all in this together…we are one big TEAM!

REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE A HERO!!!

You can do this! We are all so incredibly proud of all of you and cannot wait to hear about your experiences.

THE HOME STRETCH

For a lot of you this is it!!! This is the big weekend!!! Smile and take it all in. You will never forget this experience.

About Me

I became involved with Team In Training during the Spring 2007 season by training for the New Jersey Marathon in Long Branch, New Jersey. Prior races include several 5K and 10K events, and one half marathon. Training for an endurance event takes a lot of commitment, courage, and vision. Looking back on my casual running experience for the past two decades, I never imagined training for a marathon! Through Team In Training, I found a great training program, developed new friendships, and made a significant impact by raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma from taking more lives. I am continually inspired by our featured team heroes and the personal stories from friends, family, and teammates that were shared during my initial fundraising for the cause. Please enjoy reading the past stories of my experience.
