Reflection... Spring 2007 Season

It has taken me a few days to truly reflect upon this amazing experience. Perhaps sharing a few email messages with you will properly emulate my thoughts...

Amanda, our Team In Training Campaign Coordinator, passed along the following message from a Team Hero, David Wolovitz (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia survivor), commenting on my marathon performance...

"One question for you......Steve (...I recruited him in Media and he won the best practice attendance award), was the third purple shirt that came by at mile 18 AND he doubled back to hug me.....Do you have any idea if he finished third for TNT? That would be simply amazing!"

My response to David...

I'm not sure if I finished third for Team In Training, but I performed quite well... 3 hours, 44 minutes, and 20 seconds! You can read more at my website... there's a quick report there in addition to my finish line picture, and I hope to add more thoughts soon. I'm still reflecting over this awesome experience... thanks again for being such an inspiration! You have certainly made a big difference through sharing your story! I hope you continue to have success for many years to come!!! Take care, and I will see you during the Fall 2007 season as a team mentor! ~Stephen

And, David's reply...

You are STILL "the man"!!!! Thanks for all your efforts and good cheer....... you are the embodiment of this great program and such a joy to be around! Best Regards and deepest appreciation! David

This is what Team In Training is all about, my friends! Thank you for taking the time to read my stories... it was a pleasure to share the experience with you all! Please continue to visit my website to read about my upcoming experience as a team mentor for the Fall 2007 season!

Thank you... Coach Bill and Johanna for getting me through the final miles during the marathon! Thank you teammates, coaches, mentors, and staff members for making this entire experience a wonderful one!

Remember the cause and the stories of my team heroes... Adam (RIP), Curtis, David, and Markie.

About Me

I became involved with Team In Training during the Spring 2007 season by training for the New Jersey Marathon in Long Branch, New Jersey. Prior races include several 5K and 10K events, and one half marathon. Training for an endurance event takes a lot of commitment, courage, and vision. Looking back on my casual running experience for the past two decades, I never imagined training for a marathon! Through Team In Training, I found a great training program, developed new friendships, and made a significant impact by raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma from taking more lives. I am continually inspired by our featured team heroes and the personal stories from friends, family, and teammates that were shared during my initial fundraising for the cause. Please enjoy reading the past stories of my experience.
